The UC Davis Police Department (UCDPD) is committed to providing a safe and secure community for all who visit, attend, and work at the UC Davis campuses. This is accomplished in partnership with all of the community and in accordance with the highest professional standards of law enforcement and public service. The mission of the Department is to enhance the quality of life by providing a secure and safe environment in which the University community can conduct its fundamental mission of research, teaching, patient care, and public service.

Established on the Davis campus in 1947, UCDPD is a state police agency that provides patrol, investigative, emergency management, and crime prevention services on the main campus and at the UC Davis Health System in Sacramento. Its jurisdiction extends one mile around the campus and the medical center boundaries and to all facilities that are administered by UC Davis. The Department has its main station on the UC Davis campus and one at the Health System campus in Sacramento. UCDPD currently employs 53 sworn and 70 professional staff, as well as 112 student employees.

In addition to providing safety and security services at UC Davis and the UC Davis Medical Center, the UC Davis Police provide the campus lost and found; finger printing services (Live scan) for UC-related jobs; patrol ride-along; and personal safety education. Public safety services are also provided to the campus through programs such as Aggie Host Security Service (AHS). AHS Officers are non-sworn, student security personnel who, upon completion of a background check and specialized introductory and ongoing training with the UC Davis Police Department, facilitate assistance in the areas of escort services, special event security, and site surveillance.
