As the Chief of Police, it is my responsibility to ensure the members of the UC Davis Police Department provide safety and security to the UC Davis community. I am committed to an innovative approach to public service and will promote an inclusive environment built upon diverse cultures and perspectives integral to our university’s success. I firmly believe that as a university police department, we are uniquely situated to institute a plan to enhance the trust between law enforcement and the students, staff, faculty, and visitors of UC Davis.

As your police department, public service is our most significant responsibility. The members of the UC Davis Police Department want to be viewed as law enforcement professionals who safeguard the UC Davis campus with compassion and understanding. To reach this goal, we are committed to continually and objectively performing self-assessments to evaluate our strengths and vulnerabilities as we strive towards a more modern, highly effective organization.

I am a police chief who is actively engaged in the quest to make a positive difference in the UC Davis community. I expect nothing less from the members of the UC Davis Police Department. Together, we make up a department of skilled professionals who are dedicated to making the UC Davis Police Department a model law enforcement agency. I encourage everyone to visit our website, and never hesitate to contact us for any safety and security concerns.

Respectfully,

Joseph A. Farrow
