Patrol Operations Contact Information: Lieutenant Nader Oweis (campus) Lieutenant John D. Johnson III (Health System) The UC Davis Police Department provides law enforcement services 24 hours per day seven days a week at the UC Davis Campus and the UC Davis Health System Campus in Sacramento. Patrol operations at each location are managed by a patrol lieutenant, staffed with four patrol teams (one sergeant and three officers) working 12-hour shifts. Our mission is to provide safety and security by protecting the University community and its assets and service to the public. This is effectively achieved through community engagement and partnerships. Through our close, professional working relationship with the law enforcement agencies in Yolo and Sacramento Counties, UC Davis police officers work in concert with our neighbor agencies to address crime issues for the neighborhoods surrounding the UC Davis property. To fulfill the responsibility of providing public safety and security for UC Davis, the UC Davis Police Department utilizes a multifaceted approach. The UC Davis Police Department provides high visibility patrol using vehicular, motorcycle, bicycle and foot patrols. Our full service Police Department balances reactive responses to criminal incidents and emergencies with a proactive focus on reducing or preventing criminal activity that may compromise public safety and security. The Patrol Division oversees the following specialty units: Field Training Program, Traffic Team, Range Unit, Bicycle Patrol Team, Cal Aggie Host and Escort Service, Protective Service Officers, Defensive Tactics Team, Less-Lethal Program, Critical Incident Negotiations Team, and Canine Unit. |
