The Support Services section of the department oversees hiring and training as well as the investigtion of complaints.
The Support Services section of the department oversees hiring and training of campus police officers, police trainees and all sworn and civilian dispatchers. They handle complaint investigations and also ensure that police standards and policies are up to date.
Recruitment and Hiring
The hiring process for police officer and public safety dispatcher candidates includes an intensive background investigation, a medical examination and psychological examination. These are in addition to routine hiring practices which include a written examination and oral interview process. Confidential background investigations are required for ALL police department employees.

Training
The Training Unit identifies, coordinates, schedules and keeps records of all required training for all Police Department employees. Records are maintained for all professional certifications required by the State of California for police officers and public safety dispatchers.
Professional Standards
Support Services is responsible for fairly and thoroughly investigating all complaints alleged against police department employees. They also responsible routinely review police department policy to ensure the department is in compliance with current law and industry standards and meets the needs of the campus community.
