9/11 Memorial Stair Climb
Participate in the stair climb or join the memorial walk around the concourse.
On Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, the UC Davis community is invited to gather at UC Davis Health Stadium for the fifth annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Participants may climb 110 flights of stairs or complete a memorial walk around the stadium concourse in tribute to the first responders and victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
Whether you are a first responder climbing in uniform or a community member participating in solidarity, your presence helps ensure we never forget.
Participants may choose between two ways to honor the fallen:
- Memorial Stair Climb
Climb the symbolic 110 flights of stairs, representing the number of stories first responders climbed in the World Trade Center towers. - Memorial Walk
Complete 15 laps around the stadium concourse as an alternative to the stair climb. Participants are welcome to complete as many laps as they are able while honoring the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Participants of all abilities are welcome to choose the option that is most meaningful and appropriate for them.

- Registration includes a pancake breakfast and commemorative t-shirt. Register early to guarantee your t-shirt; quantities are limited.

Event Schedule
- 7 a.m.: Stadium opens; flag-raising ceremony and opening remarks
- 7:15 a.m.: Climb/walk begins
- 11:30 a.m.: Stadium closes
What to Expect
The event begins at the UC Davis Health Stadium at 7 a.m., for a flag-raising ceremony and opening remarks.
At 7:15 a.m., participants begin either a symbolic climb of 110 flights of stairs, representing the number of stories first responders climbed in the World Trade Center towers, or a memorial walk of 15 laps around the stadium concourse.
This Year's Beneficiary
Every step you take and every stair you climb will directly support our community. This year, all event proceeds will be dedicated to the newly created UC Davis Police Emergency Scholarship, providing vital financial support to students in times of sudden crisis.
25 Years of Remembrance
This year's event marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001. The annual Memorial Stair Climb provides an opportunity for our community to come together to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who gave their lives in service to others.
