Becoming an Aggie Host Security Officer

The Aggie Host Security Officer STDT 3 position, is a non-sworn, part time, student position that works closely with all tiers of the UC Davis Police Department to enhance the safety and security the UC Davis Campus.

Within the Aggie Host Security position, students have the opportunity to work a variety of shifts including operating the Safe Ride service program, working events and site surveillance on campus, conducting routine security patrols, and assisting with administrative and customer service based tasks, among other opportunities. As critical members of the UC Davis Police Department, Aggie Hosts receive specialized training to aid them in enhancing campus safety.

UC Davis students, both undergraduate and graduate students, in good standing are welcome to apply. Employment is conditional upon a background check and the completion of specialized introductory and ongoing training.

Starting salaries for Aggie Host Security Officers are $18.00 for those without a driver’s license and $18.50 for those with a driver’s license.

Applications are accepted year-round with rolling interviews and training sessions taking place. The Aggie Host position operates 24/7 all days of the year, offering students the opportunity to continue to work during summers and academic breaks, should they chose to.

Aggie Hosts who perform well and show an initiative to take on leadership responsibilities have the possibility of being promoted to Aggie Host Security Supervisors, a STDT 4 position with increased responsibilities and pay.
