9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Brings Community Together in Remembrance
The UC Davis Police Department invites members of the campus and broader community to come together Sunday, Sept. 13, for the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at UC Davis Health Stadium.
The event offers participants a meaningful way to remember the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call that day.
Participants can choose to climb 110 flights of stairs, representing the height of the World Trade Center towers, or complete 15 laps around the stadium concourse. Participants may complete the climb or walk at their own pace.
“I want to thank UC Davis and our community for the opportunity to host this significant event on campus," UC Davis Police Chief Joseph Farrow said. “We continue to remember and honor those who lost their lives and made the ultimate sacrifice 25 years ago. We welcome all to join us and I look forward to meeting new friends and welcoming back past participants whose continued support means so much to this event and to our community.”
Event Details
Check-in begins at 7 a.m. at UC Davis Health Stadium on the Davis campus, followed by a flag-raising ceremony and opening remarks.
Registration is required and includes a pancake breakfast and a commemorative T-shirt. T-shirts are available while supplies last, and sizes are limited. Early registration is encouraged.
The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is organized by the UC Davis Police Department and is open to the public. Proceeds from the event benefit the UC Davis Police Emergency Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to UC Davis students experiencing unexpected hardships.
