To our UC Davis community: Picnic Day is fast approaching, and I know our community is excited to embrace the long‑honored traditions and festivities that make this event so special. I sincerely hope you are able to attend and enjoy all that our university has to offer. As you know, Picnic Day is entirely student‑run, and we should all be proud of and supportive of the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm that sustain this rich tradition. A campus WarnMe message sent today (Aug. 21) as part of an active shooter exercise was inadvertently sent to some recipients without being labeled as a drill.
We write with an update on campus security in response to questions arising from a Clery notice distributed by the UC Davis Police Department on Oct. 5.
The campus Police Department has taken measures to improve Safe Ride services by adding staff and vehicles; start time for off-campus rides will begin two hours earlier.
