I join UC President Janet Napolitano in applauding the Supreme Court Decision to uphold DACA.  It’s a monumental victory for so many including some of our own students and employees at the UC Davis Police Department, UC Davis campus and health campus. 

As UC Davis’ law enforcement authority, I wholeheartedly support the UC’s mission of advocating for a permanent solution for undocumented students — and Americans — who are our neighbors, friends, and coworkers.  Today’s SCOTUS decision, and the decision earlier this week supporting our LGBTQ+ community, reminds us that we must continue to fight racism and historical injustices within our nation and institutions.  It is my hope that the UCDPD reflects the community we serve, and that we build community relationships based on trust and respect with those who we serve, regardless of their citizenship, national origin, gender identity or sexual orientation.
