UC Davis Update on Campus Security
Statement from UC Davis News and Media Relations:
We write with an update on campus security in response to questions arising from a Clery notice distributed by the UC Davis Police Department on Oct. 5.
Although the incident reportedly took place on Sept. 28, the UC Davis Police Department was notified on Oct. 4 by the Santa Rosa Police Department that the incident took place on the UC Davis campus. UC Davis Police confirmed that the incident occurred on campus, and the Clery notice was issued shortly thereafter.
While the investigation is still ongoing and the details remain confidential, we are enhancing safety services to support our students, staff, faculty and visitors. These services include additional foot patrols by campus police and other security personnel. We are upgrading lighting in poorly lit areas based on recommendations from a campus safety committee formed in June and from students, faculty and staff on annual lighting walks. We are monitoring emergency/blue lights and increasing hours and services in the Safe Rides program. We also encourage the community to review campus safety tips.
If you have a ucdavis.edu email account, you automatically receive crime alerts when incidents occur on campus. However, you must opt-in to receive text alerts. Parents and visitors may review our Frequently Asked Questions page to learn how they can sign up for alerts.
If you need support, please contact the following resources:

As a general safety resource, free self-defense classes are available at the Activities and Recreation Center for students and anyone with a membership.
If you have information about this or similar incidents, call the UC Davis Police Department at 530-754-COPS (2677).
We will provide updates about this incident as soon as we can to keep the community informed.
