The University of California, Davis, puts the highest priority on the safety and security of its students, faculty, staff and surrounding communities.

Strong relationships of mutual trust between our police department and the communities we serve are critical in building and sustaining community trust, effective policing and safe communities. Part of that trust is transparency and sharing of our police policy which we reflect upon, train on, and regularly update to keep updated with the changing laws and needs of our communities. View or download the UC Davis Police Policy Manual for more details.

From Chief Farrow, in the policy manual's preface:

"The UC Davis Police Department policy manual is a living document that has been developed in partnership with the UC Davis community. This policy manual serves as a guide to all members of the UC Davis Police Department with the goal of providing the highest level of service to the community."

Updates to UC police policies

The University of California created a Presidential Task Force on Universitywide Policing to examine the policies of UC police departments, including those related to investigative practices, use of force, and training. This process is an effort to strengthen the UC departments’ practices and their relationships and interactions with the community.

If you would like to get involved locally, please feel free to reach out to us UC Davis Police Department Outreach Team or the UC Davis Police Accountability Board.
